Our Role
The Wellington Employers Chamber of Commerce (WECC) is the Wellington presence of the Employers Chamber of Commerce Central (ECCC). Wellington based members of ECCC are members of the WECC. The WECC is run by a Board elected from this membership. A vote on the President will be held at the first Board meeting after 1 July.
Using staff from the ECCC the WECC is responsible for providing a range of services for Wellington members. These range from lobbying and advocacy work on Wellington issues through to running events and training courses in the Wellington Region. The WECC is also responsible for growing the organisation’s membership in Wellington city. Trade documentation such as Carnets and Certificates of Origin formerly issued by the Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce will be issued by WECC.
The WECC is run out of the former Chamber premises atop the Majestic Centre in Willis Street. Being on the top floor of Wellington’s best and tallest building gives not only great views, but world class meeting venues. These are available for hire from members and casual users.
Following the merger between the former Chamber and the former EMA, the membership of the WECC stands at around 1,600 effectively doubling the organizations political clout. This is by far the biggest business network in town. If your business is not a member it should be. Aside from networking and events, training, trade facilitation and lobbying, the WECC offers a full range of advisory services on employment law, occupational health and safety and other elements of human resource management. These services are only available to members. Our membership managers would be delighted to pay you a visit to discuss the full benefits of membership.
