Submission to Wellington City Council -Wellington's International Relations Policy

Developing Wellington’s engagement with the rest of the world, particularly trade and commerce relations, is key to improving Wellington’s economic growth. This submission comments on the importance of Wellington’s international engagement and how it should be developed as well as the international city to city relations of Wellington City Council which the draft policy focuses on specifically.

Transparency in everything the council does is particularly important. Rate-payers need a better idea and more detail as to what is being spent and how it is funded. We are also concerned that council expenditure has grown too much in recent years. Again, increased transparency will enable rate-payers to asses whether the allocation and level of council expenditure is appropriate.

Submission to Greater Wellington Regional Council Annual Draft Plan 2013-2014

Greater Wellington is critical to the economic performance of the region and so Wellington businesses have a strong interest in the activities and efficient operation of GW. As major contributors to GW’s rate take we are also concerned there is value for money and that businesses are not paying more than their fair share.
