Westpac Smarts: The Science Behind Distraction and Stress

Date: Friday 1 May 2020     Time: 12:30pm to 1:30pm

Venue: Online Webinar.

Our next Westpac Smarts event looks at how distractions and stress levels can impair a team from performing their best in the workplace. Carl Davidson and Dave Sewell team up and tap into the latest neuroscience explaining the importance of handling distractions and becoming more productive in order to become better teammates and make more efficient decisions.

If you or someone you know have been experiencing stress or distraction in the workplace, this presentation will highlight the tools you need to handle them and become better team players.

About our two speakers:

Dave is a NeuroLeadership Researcher and author of the book Safe Leadership: Beating Stress to Drive Performance. Dave has been fascinated for years into why some leaders are really successful whilst others aren’t. His research around high performing teams, in particular what causes dysfunctional teams, bullying and office politics is at the leading edge of our understanding. Combining the neuron science and how we did things in our ancient ancestor’s time, provides a completely new approach to leadership that everyone can connect with and understand.

Carl is the Head of Insight at Research First Ltd, which he describes as a company of 'market researchers, behaviour scientists, strategic thinkers, and good buggers'. Carl himself is a psychologist and marketer, with an interest in how we make sense of the world and why we often don’t.

While this presentation does focus on leaders, this is certainly not an event just for senior managers. So, come along, bring a friend and unlock the secrets to help you and your teammates handle the distractions to become more productive, better team players that make better decisions faster.
