Women Leading Business
Date: Monday 8 Mar 2021 Time: 12pm to 2pm
Venue: Harbourside Harbourside Function Venue 4 Taranaki Street Wellington, 6011
Join us in celebrating Women Leading in Business this International Women’s Day and be inspired by two leading business ladies brought to you in partnership with Antipodes.
Starting in 2018, the 'Women Leading Business' lunch has become a calendar event for women throughout the Wellington region. Guests will hear from two businesswomen who will share their personal journeys of professional development and how they got to where they are today, including some of the challenges they have faced along the way.
This event is focused on empowering women and educating employers on how to create inclusive workspaces, so in that spirit the event is also open to men and non-binary audiences.
This year we are embracing the theme #ChooseToChallenge
Individually, we are all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day. We can choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequity. We can choose to seek out and celebrate women's achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.
From Challenge comes Change, so let us all choose to challenge.

Elizabeth Barbalich – CEO & founder, Antipodes
Antipodes® founder and CEO Elizabeth Barbalich was searching for natural skincare that offered the same benefits as conventional skincare – but using pure New Zealand ingredients that were independently and scientifically validated.
To launch Antipodes 16 years ago, Elizabeth drew on her background in science, business, and natural health. The mother of three studied biology before embarking on an MBA, and won a sales role with an international corporation pioneering technology for laparoscopic surgery.
Antipodes combines premium natural New Zealand ingredients with science and innovation to produce luxurious, results-driven skincare. The beautifully packaged green beauty brand hit the shelves in 2006 and has seen a meteoric rise, selling globally in more than 40 markets. The brand’s devotees include international celebrities and influencers such as Cara Delevingne and Sam Smith.
As Antipodes® has grown, Elizabeth remains committed to a green beauty ethos. This means production in New Zealand, sustainably sourced ingredients, recyclable packaging, and independent certification of the brand’s organic, vegan, and vegetarian products.
Kristen Lunman - CEO & Co-Founder, Hatch
Working as a senior strategy professional for several years both here and overseas, Kristen has made a name for herself in New Zealand’s startup ecosystem, including scaling the startup Wipster and directing the Kiwibank Fintech Accelerator.
As CEO and co-founder of Hatch, Kristen challenged the status quo by opening up the US share markets to all New Zealanders with a modern investing platform. She’s a firm believer that technology should simplify our financial lives and help us be better with our money. With Hatch, every Kiwi has the same access to the tools, knowledge, and opportunities to take control of their wealth. Their mission remains to transform Kiwis from passive financial participants into active participants; engaged in growing their serious wealth to meet their ambitious lifestyle goals.
In 2018 Kristen Lunman was nominated as one of New Zealand’s Women of Influence Innovator of the Year award. When she’s not busy raising children, surfing and disrupting, you’ll find Kristen volunteering her time to mentor the next generation of entrepreneurs.
