Marketing Manager

The Marketing Manager role is a senior role, reporting to the Manager, Advocacy & Corporate Affairs and tasked developing and executing a long-term marketing strategy aligned with the company’s strategy and goals, as well as promoting our products and services to members and clients of Business Central and the Wellington Chamber of Commerce. A strong background in marketing is crucial for this role and we are seeking someone who can demonstrate the skills, experience and passion to support New Zealand businesses to be their best. 

The position helps define member value and identifies the strategies to convey thus. The appointee to the position will have strong capability in both strategic and operational execution. They will have the ability to win the trust and confidence of senior stakeholders. Ideally the candidate will have performed at this level before or have the capacity to quickly and comfortably grow. 

You will need to be well versed in digital marketing strategies, social media management, email marketing, content creation, SEO, and website management. We have also recently implemented Microsoft Dynamics as our CRM and are looking for someone who can lead the transition of our comms/marketing platforms onto the new CRM. 

The successful candidate will also play a key role in supporting the Advocacy & Corporate Affairs Manager in our external communications to members and external parties including Media, PR and key stakeholders. This role works across all teams within the organisation to help drive success in membership and the various key revenue services for the organisation. 

This position is at a new and higher level than previous ones with a new manager. As a result, this position is well suited for a mission driven, dynamic, high energy and highly productive professional with good judgment and instincts. Ideal candidates should be intellectually curious with strong analytical skills and capable of decision making and autonomy. 

Key Requirements

There is a need for this role at a senior level to:

  • Review the opportunities and risks in the current approach to marketing and communications, in a challenging and dynamic operating environment
  • Be responsible for designing and implementing marketing strategies and plans that align with the organisations strategy and goals, which may include increasing membership, raising awareness and usage of key services. 
  • Collaborate with all teams within the organisation to help them grow and develop strategies to reach large audiences
  • Bring fresh and strategic ideas to the business and challenge our assumptions
  • Ensuring we have a strong marketing culture within Business Central/Wellington Chamber to deliver the highest level of service to our members. 

About you 

We are looking for someone with: 

  • demonstrated experience, or a well-reasoned interest in a role that involves growing membership/customers through implementation of marketing strategies. 
  • demonstrated problem solving skills with stakeholders, anticipating needs, determining priorities and meeting deadlines. 
  • solid technical skills in the use of email and content platforms, aligned to experience and creativity in developing social media that cuts through/stands out
  • a flexible approach, being able to use innovative problem-solving to adapt to changing or ambiguous conditions
  • preferably, experience in branding and visual identity in order to present a consistent presence in the markets we serve
  • and preferably, someone with experience in Microsoft Dynamics CRM platform and marketing automation.
